Our Favourite Mountain Bikes
We get asked all the time for mountain bike recommendations. And while there’s no one MTB that’s perfect for all riders, there are a few that we love to show customers based on their style of riding.
Here are our favourite mountain bikes.
Price range: $700-1,100
Norco Storm
Offroad adventure
All Storm models come with simplistic 1x drivetrains (meaning only 1 chainring up front – the standard with high-end MTBs) and powerful disc brakes that work great when things get a little hairy.
A staple in the lineup as a progressive off-road bike to take on your next adventure. An all-around bike for city or trails, to discover your favourite way to ride.
Norco Storm models come in a range of build kits so you can pick one that suits your budget. Spend a little more and you can get more gear range and a dropper post upgrade.
Price range: $1,500-1,800
Norco Charger
Best Budget MTB
The “big brother” to the Storm, the Charger takes everything we love about the Storm and turns it up. A forged bottom bracket yoke adds strength, more tire clearance and stiffness. And the upgrades don’t stop there, thru-axles, a tapered steerer tube and a 2 piece crankset mean strength and stiffness are increased across the board.
Pair all that frame technology with reliable, performance-packed components, and you get a capable, lightweight hardtail that has been a staple in the Norco lineup.
Price range: $2,200-6,700
Marin Rift Zone
Versatile short travel trail bike
The Rift Zone is the do-it-all all, fun bike from Marin. Offering great bang for buck and performance, it’s mid travel geometry means it’s great on the climbs and equally at home when you point it downhill.
Robust aluminium frame and hand-picked proven components across the entire line up. This makes a great first Full Suspension mountain bike for the rider who’s looking to take things to the next level.
Price range: $3,200-12,900
Rocky Mountain Instinct
Versatile mid travel trail bike
The Instinct lineup covers all the bases a do-it-all trail bike should and can adjust with your riding goals so it’s always feeling dialed. It’s packed full of cool tech features and can be the only MTB you’ll ever need.
Size specific shock tunes ensures that riders of all sizes get the right balance of small-bump compliance, mid-stroke support, and end-stroke progressiveness.
The coolest part of the Instinct has to be its insane amount of adjustability. Right out of the box you can adjust the headtube angle, frame geometry via RIDE-4™, and a 2 position rear axle, making it incredibly versatile. As your riding style or terrain changes, the Rocky instinct can change with it.
Price range: $4,900-10,000
Norco Revolver 130
Premium “Downtcountry” bike
Revolver is the lightest full-suspension frame Norco has ever built, with a surprising amount of capability. At the core of its efficiency is an advanced approach to a Flex-Pivot suspension design.
With aggressive XC geometry and a carbon frame layup optimized for each frame size to enhance stiffness and compliance, this bike climbs like a goat and puts longer travel bikes to shame on the downs.
The raw or tinted clear coat paint is half the weight of standard paint, while titanium hardware, compact double-row Enduro bearings, and compact links enhance durability and precision. Resulting in a bike that’s playful and efficient to ride just about anywhere across Ontario.
